Getting Here

The Cavendish Laboratory is on JJ Thomson Avenue, off Madingley Road to the west of the city. Please visit reception when you arrive and contact the person you are visiting.

By Car

Coming from the South, travel up the M11. Leave at junction 13, turn right along the A1303. Turn right on to JJ Thomson Avenue, before you enter the city. The Cavendish is on the left at the end of this road.

Coming from the West, travel along on the A428 from Bedford. Take the A1303 as you approach Cambridge and you will be on the Madingley Road. Turn right on to JJ Thomson Avenue before you enter the city. The Cavendish is on the left at the end of this road.

Coming from the North, you should come on the A14 (formerly A604). Take the exit for Cambridge, and you enter along the Huntingdon Road. Turn right along Storey's Way, then right when you reach Madingley Road. Turn left on to JJ Thompson Avenue, the Cavendish is on the left at the end of this lane.

By Bus

There is a national bus station at Drummer Street in Cambridge. From there you can get a taxi to The Cavendish.

By Local Bus

Click here for the latest Uni 4 bus timetable, which stops on JJ Thompson Avenue. From here, it is a short walk to the Cavendish Laboratory.

By Train

The timetable for Cambridge-London trains can be found here. Trains run from both King's Cross and Liverpool Street stations in London. Cambridge station is about 3 miles from The Cavendish - it is best to take a taxi.
