We use optics tools and coherent control techniques to manipulate the quantum state of defects in diamond lattice. These defects can act as single-atom-sized quantum sensors and allow us to address important questions about interactions on the single-molecule scale, reveal the underlying physics of new designer materials and explore hidden quantum mechanical phenomena at the nanometre scale. At our exhibit, of optical beams within a mirror maze, you will have a hands-on experience with a toy model of a part of our actual optical setup which will try to show the wave-particle duality of light and how it helps us towards our research. You will see how often counterintuitive principles of optics can bring us into the world of quantum mechanics.
